Schedule of Classes
Our classes meet four times a week. We have three evening classes, Monday, Tuesday and Thursdays from 5:15-6:30pm and, for the summer of 2009.
The evening classes are open to all students, youth and adult. As we are a young dojo, there is no separate “advanced class,” not yet! Everyone is welcome at any and all evening classes. The Wednesday weapons class focuses on individual and paired training techniques primarily with the long and short staff, sword and knife. This class is open to adults and, by special permission, to youth.
New students are welcome to join anytime. However, since we follow the town of Middlebury Parks and Recreation program, we recommend that new students begin when a new series begins. Each September, December, March and July we begin a new series. Beginners are welcomed and happily integrated into the ongoing practice of the dojo.
We ask that anyone interested in Aikido at Blue Heron come in and watch a class in session before they come in for their first class. You do not need to make an appointment in advance.
“The techniques of Aikido are intended for us to use in examining the nature of power, to engage in compromising self-scrutiny, and to realize our potential as powerful, compassionate, self-aware human beings.”
Mary Heiny Sensei, Seattle Washington.
