Thursday, 19 April, we will welcome Aaron Ward Sensei, Chief Instructor of Vermont Aikido in Burlington to our dojo. Aaron Sensei has 30 years of training, and will be instructing us on the art of the sword. Weapons training is an important aspect of our training in and of itself, but know that it also informs our open-hand waza as well. So please, come train next Thursday! We will take Sensei out for drinks and/or a bite to eat after class.

Friday April 27
4:45-5:30pm: Lecture and Demonstration.

Dan Macabee Sensei, 5th Dan, Co-founder of Two Cranes Aikido Seattle Washington.
Jonathan Miller-Lane, 3rd Dan, Associate Professor of Education Studies, founder of Blue Heron Aikido, Middlebury, VT.
5:30-6:30pm: Introductory class open to all, taught by Kimberly Richardson Sensei, 6th Dan. Beginners welcome.

Saturday April 28
10:30am-12:15pm: Introductory class open to all, taught by Kimberly Richardson Sensei, 6th Dan. Beginners welcome.
2:15pm-4:30pm: Advanced Class. Black Belt demonstrations: Jeff Stauch, Class of 2005 & Adam Franco, Class of 2002.

A potluck dinner will be held in the evening. All attendees are welcome to attend.

Next Beginner Series: February 20 – March 15, 2012

We welcome all newcomers to join us for for a one-month Aikido introduction series. This series will focus on the fundamental teachings and techniques of Aikido to ensure that all participants start their journey with a solid footing.

Classes are mixed youth and adults providing a unique opportunity for adults and youth to train together. Ages 11 and up. No prior experience necessary. Students must come to one or more classes each week.

The spring introductory series runs from February 20 – March 15, 2012.
Class times: Mon, Tue, & Thurs 5:30-6:45 pm
Location: The Blue Heron dojo at the Municipal Gym.
Fee: $50

After the conclusion of the one-month beginner series entrants may continue training with the dojo for the rest of the spring session for an additional $50 fee. (Regular membership fees are $100 per session, 3 sessions per year: Spring, Summer, Fall/Winter).

While students are welcome to wear a white keikogi, no special clothes or equipment are needed. Loose-fitting or stretchy athletic pants (sweatpants or similar) and a tee shirt are fine.
