Beginning September 1st, 2012 our regular class schedule is as follows:

  • Sundays 4:00-5:15 – Randori class.
Open to all who have completed the beginner series.
    Taught by Jonathan Miller-Lane.
  • Mondays 5:30-6:45 – Intermediate/Advanced class.
Open to all who have tested for 5th Kyu and above.
    Taught by Jonathan Miller-Lane.
  • Tuesdays & Thursdays 5:30-6:45 – General training for all levels.
Taught by Holly Weir, Adam Franco, and Jeff Stauch.

Classes are mixed youth and adult.

Periodic weapons classes focus on individual and paired training techniques primarily with the long and short staff, sword and knife. This class is open to adults and, by special permission, to youth.

Each February, July, and September we hold a 4-week beginner session designed to give new students a solid understanding of basic techniques. After completing the 4-week session, beginners are happily integrated into the ongoing practice of the dojo. We ask that new students start their training during one of these beginner series.

Experienced Aikidoka are welcome to begin training at our dojo at any time.

We ask that anyone interested in Aikido at Blue Heron come in and watch a class in session before they come in for their first class. You do not need to make an appointment in advance.

“The techniques of Aikido are intended for us to use in examining the nature of power, to engage in uncompromising self-scrutiny, and to realize our potential as powerful, compassionate, self-aware human beings.”

Mary Heiny Sensei, Seattle Washington.
